There is still a great need for producing 2D CAD documentation directly, even after having the ability to produce associative 2D documentation using 3D models. It has been observed that the renaissance in any 2D CAD workflow is underway. There had not been much of changes in 2D CAD throughout the decade and it is believed that the process for the creation of 2D documentation needs not remain stagnant and archaic.

But 20 years since then there are DWG drawings in billions that are still circulating. The reason is really simple the new 3D technologies have increased the complexity of any model and also the amount of information that they illustrate. Thus drawings are still widely being used for documenting projects in a comprehensive manner and a higher level of detail. With a further increase in complexity, the need for drawing is increasing. The trend is also expanding with the transformation of SaaS as the cloud is allowing deeper integration amongst the applications and also collaboration among the users.
